I hope that I get the chance to get to know all of you guys and learn new things from you guys as well. I thought I could start off by telling you guys a little bit about me and how I got into photography before getting into what these new Blogs are going to be about.
About me
When I was about Seven I got a simple, small, compact camera. I was so excited! My family went on a lot of vacations during the summer, and I couldn't wait to take my camera with me to capture my favorite moments and all of the beautiful views.
Several years later I was still taking pictures, but I was so young and new to photography I didn’t really know what I was doing. Eventually I took the picture above, this was the point I really fell in love with photography. It has always been a picture that I am proud to show off. From then on photography became less of a vacation hobby and more of a passion that I wanted to be doing all of the time.
I ended up taking photography classes all three years of high school. I was able to walk out of school confidently knowing how to take decent pictures. After a year off, my next step was college. Let me tell you guys, college was not for me. I gave it a few months before deciding I wanted to try things a different way. I wanted to start my own business. I dropped out of college and started planning. At first I thought about going the easy way, taking portraits. But since I am a complete introvert, that just seemed like a lot of social interaction. So instead I decided to start selling my photos as prints, along with working with resorts around the world. With a countless amount of trial and error, my business finally started to get some traction.
What to expect
In the upcoming weeks I hope to share tips that help you guys get eyes on your business faster. I am going to be sharing the best and the worst of my adventures. I am here to show everything from my tips and tricks with running a small business to exclusive behind-the-scenes, insights on my travels, with a little bit of life in between.
I hope to help beginning travel photographers with things I wish I knew when I started, along with sharing things I'm still trying to figure out. Because, come on, we are all human and sometimes the best way to learn is learning from mistakes
If you have ever wondered how to make your hobby of photographing your adventures into a business, listen up. I spent so much time trying to figure out how I was going to make money from all of this. Let me tell you now, researching ideas didn’t get me anywhere. Hence why I decided to try and help all of you guys by writing this blog.
